Ahead of aviation events such as Aerodays, Airspace World and the Paris Airshow, CINEA is publishing a new webpage highlighting how the EU is transforming aviation through funding programmes like CEF Transport, Horizon Europe Transport, and the Innovation Fund by supporting:
- Innovation for airplanes
- Modernising air traffic management
- Improving infrastructure in & around airports
Since 2014, the EU has co-financed projects worth €4.5 billion. Projects funded under these three programmes have, for example:
- driven research and innovation to the first zero-emission aircraft certified in the EU and to the first drone self-charging ‘on-the-fly' in the world
- deployed 69 innovative technological solutions linked to the SESAR programme to improve air traffic management
- improved transport infrastructure by supporting electrified ground services at airports
These efforts are making air transport greener, safer, and more efficient and EU industry more competitive.
